Catherine Badgley is a vertebrate paleontologist interested in the paleoecology and biogeography of mammals as well as taphonomy of mammalian fossil assemblages. She and Will played music in the same band class together in the ninth grade but didn’t discover this fact until 1978 at the Khaur Rest House in northern Pakistan. Catherine and Will worked in the Miocene of Pakistan for many years. Will taught Catherine screen-washing methods in Pakistan and stimulated her interest in the paleoecology of small mammals. The photo was taken at the Grand Canyon three weeks before Will died.
