Steve Hageman is an invertebrate paleontologist with a specific interest in the systematics and (paleo)ecology of Paleozoic, Cenozoic and modern Bryozoa. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geology at Appalachian State University. He has a B.S. in Geology from the University of Kansas, and a MS and Ph.D (1992) in Geology from the University of Illinois. Hageman held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Adelaide, South Australia and the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago and was a Fulbright Scholar at the Rudger Boskovic Institute, Croatia. His research interests include the documentation of sources (genetic vs. environmental) of phenotypic variation and their role in microevolution and speciation.
