Wolf-Dieter Heinrich, born on 20 September 1941 in Potsdam, Germany. High school in Potsdam (1956-1960). Studies of Geology and Palaeontology at the Humboldt-University of Berlin (1961-1966). Diploma (1966), Dr. rer. nat. (1968), Dr. sc. nat. (1979). Curator (1976-1993) and head curator of the collections of fossil vertebrates at the Museum of Natural History of the Humboldt-University of Berlin (1994-2006). Director of the Geological-Palaeontological Institute of the Humboldt-University of Berlin (1992-1994).  Honorary assistant at the Berlin Museum of Natural History (since autumn 2006). Research interests: Cenozoic micromammals of Eurasia, Neogene and Quaternary Mammal Chronology of Europe and Asia, Mesozoic mammals of Africa.
