Professor Michael C. Boulter has been Professor in Palaeobiology at the University of East London since 1990. His inauguration was the same evening that Margaret Thatcher resigned as Prime Minister. From University College London he continued to work with Cenozoic pollen and spores, taxonomically, stratigraphically, palaeoecologically and palaeoclimatically. Professor Boulter has been secretary of the International Organisation of Palaeobotany since 1978, a Leverhulme Research Fellow in the early nineties, and is now chairman of the UK Committee for Biodiversity.

Dilshat Hewzulla is from Computer Science Department, Xinjiang University, Urumchi, China. He did his MSc in speech recognition and synthesis, and was involved in the national 863 project of China in developing multilanguage operating systems and speech recognition and synthesis systems. He is now working for his PhD at the Unversity of East London, and is active within the palaeobiology research group there.
