A new group of late Oligocene mysticetes from México
Plain Language Abstract
This paper describes a new group of primitive baleen whales. It represents the first description of Oligocene mysticetes from Mexico. A phylogenetic analysis resulted in the recognition of the specimen described here as likely representing a new group of Oligocene mysticetes. Finally, some anatomical, ecological and biogeography notes are suggested to clarify paleobiological details.
