Øyvind Hammer (born 1968) obtained his M.Sc. in computational mathematics in 1997 and his Ph.D. in paleontology in 2000, both at the University of Oslo. At present he holds a postdoctoral position at the Geological Museum in Oslo. His interests include developmental biology and mathematical modelling of growth and pattern formation, quantitative and computer methods in paleontology, and faunal dynamics in the Ordovician of Baltoscandia.
Other recent activities include two field studies of animal vocalizations in tropical rain forests, the construction of large computer art installations in the national library and concert house in Oslo, and teaching computer music at the University of Oslo.
