Dr. Sally E.
Walker is an Associate Professor of Geology/Marine Sciences at the University of
Georgia, Athens, Georgia, USA. She is currently the Invertebrate Paleobiology
Consulting Editor for McGraw-Hill Professional Publishing Corporation, where she
oversees all encyclopedia entries in her field, and recommends novel discoveries
to be included in the McGraw-Hill Yearbook of Science and Technology. She is
the author of over 80 publications, including book chapters, special journal
issues, and abstracts. Her work focuses on encrusting and bioeroding organisms
of carbonate shells, hermit crabs and predators of molluscan-shell carbonate,
and biological taphonomy. She especially enjoys working with the SSETI team
(Shelf-Slope Experimental Taphonomy Initiative) and has charted deep-marine
submersible dives to 570 meters (1870 ft).
