Adam Woods

Adam Woods was born just north of the heart of Amish Country in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Woods was interested in geology from an early age, and after spending much of his teenage years wanting to become a pharmacist, Woods decided the geologist’s life was for him (it even says so in his high school yearbook under "Future Plans").

Woods' interest in geology took him to Millersville University (in the heart of Amish Country) where he earned his B.S. in 1991. He then moved to Cincinnati (aka "Porkopolis") to pursue his M.S. at the University of Cincinnati and eat a weird yet compelling version of chili and White Castle (which he now misses dearly). Woods next journey took him to USC in sunny LA where he earned his Ph.D. under David Bottjer in 1998. After a brief detour of teaching community college he joined the geology department at California State University, Fullerton in Orange County. His research interests include the aftermath of the Permian-Triassic mass extinction, the role of escaping fluids in sediments, and why his cat Buster won’t respond when he calls him. His life is nothing like that portrayed in The OC.
