Aaron Pan received his B.A. in Creative Studies-Biology from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2002 and is currently a doctoral student in the Department of Geological Sciences at Southern Methodist University. His research includes the identification and description of a leaf, floral, and wood compression flora from the Late Oligocene of northwestern Ethiopia. Aaron is particularly interested in Tertiary tropical forest ecosystem floristics and paleoecology. He is also interested in the systematics of the Arecaceae (palms), Myristicaceae (nutmegs), Sapotaceae, and the Sapindales.
