Alan Deino has been a geochronologist with the non-profit research institute, the Berkeley Geochronology Center, and it’s predecessors for the last 20 years. He has applied ⁴⁰Ar/³⁹Ar dating and tephrochemistry to a variety of problems in volcanology, structural geology, stratigraphy, paleontology, and paleoanthropology. He visits East Africa frequently for field work.
