Vladimir I.
Davydov is a Research Professor at the Permian Research Institute, Department of
Geosciences, Boise State University. After graduating from Tadzhik State
University, he spent several years mapping the Pamirs and Tian-Shan, Central
Asia. In mid-career Vladimir worked at the All-Russian Geological Research
Institute (St. Petersburg, Russia), where he was responsible for the Upper
Paleozoic stratigraphy and fusulinid biostratigraphy in various regions of the
former Soviet Union. His scientific background includes research interests in
magnetostratigraphy, biogeochemistry, paleoclimatology, U/Pb radiometric
geochemistry and sequence stratigraphy. Vladimir is very active in quantitative
multidimensional correlation techniques and reconciliation of numeric and
evolutionary datasets for refined chronostratigraphy. His current project deals
with the development of a web-based informational system.
This informational system will facilitate the international debate for
establishment of the Pennsylvanian and Early Permian stage boundary definitions
and provide a permanent resource for the data utilized for these definitions.
Thus, a database prototype is created for sedimentary, paleontologic and
stratigraphic data that reflects the specific needs of stratotype, GSSPs
definition and Integrated (Standard) Geologic Time Scale.
