From an early age I have been curiously
interested in plants. I finally began to satiate my botanical interests when I
entered the Plant Biology Honours program in the Biological Sciences Department,
University of Alberta (U. of A., B.Sc. 2000). My Honours thesis project in
Paleobotany completely hooked me on plant morphology, anatomy and evolution. I
continued on as a graduate student and further studied the anatomically
preserved plants of the Eocene Princeton Chert, in British Columbia, Canada.
Since defending my Ph.D. in Systematics and Evolution (2006), I have joined
forces with Peter Wilf as a postdoc in the Geosciences department at Penn State
University to continue my journey into the botanically unknown. |
