Guntupalli Prasad received his Ph.D. degree in 1986
from Panjab University, Chandigarh (India). His doctoral thesis was on
the microvertebrate palaeontology of the sedimentary beds associated
with the Deccan volcanic flows. At present, he is working as a Professor
in the Department of Geology, University of Jammu, Jammu (India).
Subsequent to his doctoral work, his focus was on the biodiversity
changes through the entire column of Deccan traps and the effects of
Deccan volcanism on terminal Cretaceous biota. Currently, he is working
on a number of problems related to evolution and diversity of
continental Mesozoic vertebrates, particularly Mesozoic mammals of
India. In the last 10 years, he has been working extensively in the
Pranhita-Godavari valley, South Rewa Gondwana basin, Cauvery basin,
Narmada valley, and Kachchh basin in search of Late Triassic to Late
Cretaceous mammals. |
