Hans-Ulrich Pfretzschner, born 1959 in Bad
Kreuznach, studied Chemistry, Physics, and Biology at the University of
Kaiserslautern. In 1989 he received the Dr. rer. nat. for his dissertation
thesis about enamel biomechanics in mammals. From 1989 on he was assistant at
the Institute of Paläontology at the University in Bonn. There, he finished his
habilitation thesis about biometric studies on skulls of ungulates in 1995.
Since 1999, he is Professor for Vertebrate Paleontology at the Institute for
Geosciences in Tübingen.
