François Pujos is a postdoctoral fellow in the Departamento de Paleontología, Instituto Argentino de Nivología Glaciología y Ciencias Ambientales (IANIGLA), CCT-CONICET-Mendoza, Argentina, and a Research Associate with the French Institute of Andean Studies (I.F.E.A.), Lima, Perú. Sloths are the major focus of Pujos’ investigations. His more than a dozen peer reviewed publications regarding sloths cover the alpha taxonomy of new species, systematics, ecology, and functional morphology. In addition to being an expert on sloths, Pujos has also published reports regarding fossil crocodilia, mollusks, microfossils, and fossil faunas in general. He has led over 22 expeditions in South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru) and has participated in other field projects in French Guyana, Venezuela, and France. He received his Ph.D. in vertebrate paleontology from the National Museum of Natural History, in Paris, in 2002. |
