Clara Stefen received her PhD. in Biology in 1995 from the University in Bonn, Germany. The work was on tooth enamel of Carnivora. The project during a two year postdoctoral research position in the State Natural History Museum in Stuttgart, Germany started my interest in beavers. During a postdoc in the Museum of Paleontology in Berkeley I was able to work on tooth enamel but also to continue to collect data on beavers in different American collections. Part of my research is focused on Castoridae.
