Dr. Tim Patterson is a Professor of Geology at Carleton University and an International Fellow in the School of Geography, Archaeology and Palaeoecology at the Queen's University of Belfast.  He received both a B.Sc. in Biology and a B.A. in Geology from Dalhousie University and a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1986 with Professor Helen Tappan Loeblich and Dr. Alfred R. Loeblich.  Although his early training was as a systematicist his current primary research interest is in the application of micropaleontological, sedimentological and geochemical proxies to assess the dynamics of climate and land use change.
