Christopher Strganac received his BS in Geological Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. Upon completing his degree he spent two seasons as an interpretive park ranger at John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in Oregon before coming back to Texas to pursue graduate degrees in paleontology at Southern Methodist University. For his M.S., he studied Oligocene mammals and their geological context from the Pacific Northwest under the guidance of Dr. Louis L. Jacobs. Since his arrival to SMU, he has performed field work on the Cretaceous of Alaska's North Slope, the Oligocene of Ethiopia, the Cretaceous of Antarctica, and the Cretaceous of Angola. The field work on the geology from the latter is the focus of his current Ph.D. work.
