Sweden Dr. Artem Kouchinsky is a researcher at the Swedish
Museum of Natural History. He received M.Sc. in Geology from the Moscow State
University (Russian Federation) in 1992 and Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the
Uppsala University (Sweden) in 2001. He works in collaboration with the Nordic
Centre for Earth Evolution (Denmark) on connections between biological evolution
and evolving chemistry of the Earth-surface environment.
Current research activities involve investigation of skeletal microstructures
and fine morphology of the first biomineralizing animals of the Cambrian, their
systematics and biominearlization mechanisms, calibration of first appearances
of mineralized skeletons in animal groups with a refined carbon isotope
chemostratigraphy, and description of lower-middle Cambrian faunas from Siberia. |
