Marc Godinot is Directeur d'Etude at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes, Paris. His laboratory is part of the research unit UMR 7207 located at the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Jardin des Plantes, Paris. His research interest includes early Eocene mammals from Provence (Rians, Palette) and the Paris Basin, dispersals at the Paleocene-Eocene boundary. He contributed to the MP biochronological scale (Paleogene European mammalian reference levels). He also specialized on Eocene primates, contributing in systematics, study of limb bones and locomotion, hand evolution in primates, phylogeny, primate origins and recently adapine systematics.
