I started my studies in Kiel, north Germany, and heard a lot about geology there. One of the things I also learned was that, for me, the most interesting part of geology was palaeontology. And in palaeontology I was most interested in vertebrates. So I moved southwards, to Tübingen, where I got involved with marine reptiles. I finished my studies, and made my Ph.D. in this field. I work with plesiosaurs, these fascinating beasts which have no modern analogue. I am mostly interested in their palaeoecological adaptations, and how these changed within plesiosaur evolution.

When my partner went to London a few years ago, I followed him and spent two years at the Natural History Museum as a long term visitor, while writing my PhD-thesis and enjoying the city. Now he has a job in southern France, and I enjoy the sun and the nice food here. The next stop will probably be Germany again, but who knows?
