The program used for the eigenshape analysis is contained within a package named "PAST" (version 1.04 for the year 2003). The results of the analysis
(Table 2) indicate that the 1st and 2nd eigenshape components account for more than 74% of the variance. As a result, the plot of the 1st versus 2nd components shown in
Figure 8 gives the same results as the canonical variate analysis in separating males (in the upper section of the graph) and females (in the lower section of the graph). Based on this preliminary data, the use of both canonical variate and eigenshape analyses seems to be of little use for interpreting shape complexities in these
taxa.
