NEW NAME FOR PYTINE MONCHARMONT ZEI AND SGARELLA, 1978 NON FORTEY, 1975
According to the rules of the
International Code of Zoological Nomenclature two genera may not have the same
name, even if they are in groups as different as Foraminiferida and Trilobita.
The genus described first, the trilobite Pytine Fortey 1975 in this case
has precedence over the foraminifera Pytine Moncharmont Zei and
Sgarrella 1978. A new name Moncharmontzeiana is therefore proposed as a
replacement for the foraminiferal homonym.
