Introduction
In this paper we describe a new species of Lepidotes based on two specimens of heads from the Cenomanian Kem Kem beds of Morocco. These deposits were presumably laid down in fluviatile conditions and are dated as Cenomanian (Sereno et al. 1996). Specimens are fragmentary and usually very robust. Several taxa have been described from the same beds: Palaeonotopterus greenwoodi
Forey, 1997, Calamopleurus africanus
Forey and Grande, 1998, Oniichthys falipoui
Cavin and Brito, 2001, cf. Mawsonia lavocati
Tabaste,1963 (Cavin and Forey 2004), Cladocyclus pankowskii
Forey and Cavin 2007, Concavotectum moroccensis
Cavin and Forey, 2008, and Erfoudichthys rosae
Pittet et al., 2009.
