Ünal Akkemik did his undergraduate at the Division of Forest Engineering, Faculty of Forestry, University of Istanbul (Turkey), and continued his master degree and then he finished his PhD in the Institute of Science, Istanbul University at 1997. He works on dendrochronology and palaeobotany subjects at his department and he is also head of the Department of Forest Botany. He interested climate history and dating of different objects under dendrochronology and petrified wood identifications in palaeobotany from mainly Miocene of Turkey.

Imogen Poole is independent consultant in modern, archaeological and fossil wood identification in Aberden, United Kingdom. She has maintained an active interest in wood anatomy and palaeobotany/palaeoecology by acting as associate editor of IAWA Journal and Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology, and editing and coauthoring academic (text)books.
