The use of new web technologies for the analysis, preservation, and outreach of paleontological information and its application to La Rioja (Spain) paleontological heritage
Plain Language Abstract
Preservation of paleontological heritage for the future generations is of great concern for researchers all around the world. In recent years, digital preservation has proved to be an option not only for preservation but also for management at government level and outreach for the paleontological heritage. In our work we propose a digital project to preserve and promote dinosaur footprint paleontological sites of La Rioja using the regional SDI (Spatial Data Infrastructure) of La Rioja Government. Using the paleontological site of Valdecevillo where we have 30 years of data available, we developed a pilot computer project with the collaboration of the Cartography Service of the Government of La Rioja. The Spatial Data Infrastructure of La Rioja allows any user, freely, from any device connected to the Internet and intuitively, to access this information through of the institutional web cartography server and therefore use this information for research, outreach, and education. This project will allow society to engage with this extraordinary paleontological heritage and increase awareness over it for the future generations.

El uso de nuevas tecnologías web para el análisis, la conservación y la divulgación de la información paleontológica y su aplicación al patrimonio paleontológico de La Rioja (España)
El presente trabajo propone un proyecto de conservación y difusión digital de información de yacimientos paleontológicos ubicados en el municipio de Enciso (La Rioja, España), a través de la IDE (Infraestructura de Datos Espaciales) regional del Gobierno de La Rioja. En su configuración original, el sistema proporciona la ubicación y los datos descriptivos generales de todos los yacimientos declarados oficialmente dentro de los límites municipales. Además, se proporciona información en profundidad para un caso particular, el yacimiento de Valdecevillo, para el cual se revisaron y clasificaron los conjuntos de datos disponibles generados en los últimos 30 años (fotografías, diapositivas, planos, artículos científicos, etc.). Posteriormente, una parte de este material documental se seleccionó para su digitalización y difusión online. Además, la información se ha enriquecido con un modelo tridimensional (3D) del estado actual y un documento de video. El presente trabajo concluye con una reflexión sobre la utilidad de este enfoque y sus implicaciones.

L’utilisation de nouvelles technologies internet pour l’analyse, la préservation, et la diffusion des informations paléontologiques : application au patrimoine paléontologique de La Rioja (Espagne)
Ce travail propose un projet de préservation et de diffusion numérique des informations concernant les sites paléontologiques situés dans la municipalité d’Enciso (La Rioja, Espagne) au moyen d’une IDS (Infrastructure de Données Spatiales) régionale du gouvernement de La Rioja. Dans sa configuration originelle, le système fournit la localisation au sein des frontières municipales et les données descriptives générales de tous les sites officiellement déclarés. Des informations plus précises sont également fournies pour un cas particulier – le site de Valdecevillo – pour lequel les jeux de données disponibles générés ces 30 dernières années (photographies, diapositives, plans, papiers, etc.) ont été révisés et triés. Dans un second temps, une partie de ce matériel a été choisie pour numérisation et diffusion en ligne. Les informations ont également été enrichies avec un modèle tridimensionnel (3D) représentant l’état actuel et un reportage vidéo. Ce travail se conclut par une réflexion sur l’utilité et les implications de cette approche.

Der Einsatz neuer Webtechnologien für die Analyse, Erhaltung und Verbreitung paläontologischer Informationen und ihre Anwendung auf die paläontologische Welterbestätte von La Rioja (Spanien).
Die vorliegende Arbeit regt ein Projekt zur digitalen Bewahrung und Verbreitung von Informationen über paläontologische Fundstellen in der Gemeinde Enciso (La Rioja, Spanien) mittels regionaler GDI (Geodateninfrastruktur) der Regierung La Rioja an. In seiner ursprünglichen Konfiguration liefert das System die Standort- und allgemeinen Beschreibungsdaten aller offiziell deklarierten Standorte innerhalb der Gemeindegrenzen. Außerdem werden detaillierte Informationen für einen speziellen Fall - die Valdecevillo-Fundstelle - bereitgestellt, für den die verfügbaren Datensätze der letzten 30 Jahre (Fotos, Folien, Pläne, Papiere usw.) überprüft und sortiert wurden. Darüber hinaus wurden die Informationen mit einem dreidimensionalen (3D) Modell des Ist-Zustandes und einem Videobericht erweitert. Die vorliegende Arbeit schließt mit einer Reflexion über den Nutzen und die Auswirkungen dieses Ansatzes.

Wykorzystanie nowych technologii internetowych do analizy, konserwacji oraz pozyskiwania informacji paleontologicznych i ich zaaplikowanie do dziedzictwa paleontologicznego La Rioja (Hiszpania)
W niniejszej pracy zaproponowano projekt cyfrowego zachowania i rozpowszechniania informacji dotyczących stanowisk paleontologicznych zlokalizowanych w gminie Enciso (La Rioja, Hiszpania) za pośrednictwem regionalnej SDI (ang. Spatial Data Infrastructure) rządu La Rioja. W pierwotnej konfiguracji system zapewnia lokalizację i ogólne dane opisowe wszystkich oficjalnie zgłoszonych stanowisk w granicach gminy. Poza tym dostarczono szczegółowych informacji na temat jednego konkretnego przypadku - stanowiska Valdecevillo - dla którego dostępne zbiory danych zostaływygenerowane w ciągu ostatnich 30 lat (fotografie, slajdy, plany, dokumenty itp.), zostały przejrzane i posortowane. Następnie wybrany materiał przeznaczono do digitalizacji i rozpowszechniania. Ponadto, informacje te zostały wzbogacone o trójwymiarowy model (3D) bieżącego stanu i raport wideo. Niniejsza praca kończy się refleksją nad użytecznością i implikacjami tego podejścia
