Currently managing and operating the ESEM facility within the Institute of GeoEnergy Engineering at Heriot-Watt University. Research mainly through using the ESEM facility, concentrating on biomineralization (brachiopods, serpulids, testate amoeba and crustaceans), ichnology, mudrocks, sandstones and carbonate rocks, with special interests in techniques such as charge contrast imaging (CCI), digital rock characterisation and automation in SEM, wettability studies. Also, porosity and permeability modelling using digital rock physics (DRP) techniques based on SEM and X-ray tomography images.
