Chris Tacker has served for more than twenty years as Curator of Geology for the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. He holds degrees in geology from UNC-Chapel Hill and the University of Maryland, and earned the doctorate from Rice University. His research crosses boundaries in several disciplines, mainly concerning apatite group minerals and mineral spectroscopy, but also includes biomaterials and Ediacaran fossils.
