Cassia is a vertebrate paleontologist and palaeoecologist. She received a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of Western Australia. She worked in the Western Australian Museum Palaeontology collection as both a paid staff member and volunteer, spending many hours cleaning and organising vertebrate specimens.

Peter Veth has specialised on the archaeology of desert and maritime societies. He has been faculty at James Cook University, the Australian National University and the University of Western Australia. He holds a Chair in Archaeology at the University of Western Australia and is currently the Director of the Oceans Institute. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities and sits on the ARC College of Experts. He has worked on the islands of the North West Shelf of Australia for 30 years.
