Oldřich Fatka earned his Ph.D. from the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1987, and moved that same year the Czech Geological Survey in Prague. He spent nearly two years as Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Technical University Berlin, TU Bergakademie Freiberg and Forschungsinstitut Senckenberg Frankfurt am Main (Germany). In 1994, he joined the Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Faculty of Science, Charles University, Czech Republic, where he is currently Professor of palaeontology. His research is focused on biostratigraphy, palaeobiogeography and palaeoecology of Paleozoic fossils.

Jakub Vodička born in Žilina, Slovakia is a PhD student at the Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Faculty of Science, Charles University, Czech Republic. His research is focused on stratigraphy, paleobiology and paleoecology of chitinozoans, mainly Ordovician and Silurian in age.
