Alexandra van der Geer is a palaeontologist at Naturalis Biodiversity Center, Leiden, the Netherlands. Through her research on island mammals worldwide, she reconstructs the evolution, adaptation and extinction of insular endemics globally and investigates the role of humans. She is also an indologist, specialised in the interface between human material culture and native faunas in South Asia.
