Bainian Sun is a Professor at the School of Earth Science, Lanzhou University, China. He received degrees from Lanzhou University (B.A. in Geology and M.A. in Paleontology and Stratigraphy), and the China University of Mining & Technology (Xuzhou) (Ph.D. in Coal Geology). His research group focuses on fundamental questions that fossil and extant plants response to past, present and future atmospheric CO2 concentrations and CO2 effects on Mesozoic and Cenozoic gymnosperms and angiosperms, especially CO2 effects on leaf stomata of fossil plant through geologic time. He is interested in geological sciences, paleobotany, plant evolution, paleoclimate, atmospheric CO2 and climate history, Mesozoic and Cenozoic stratigraphy, regional geologic investigation.
