Carolina ACOSTA HOSPITALECHE obtained a degree in Paleontology in 1999 and a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences, both from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (Argentina), in 2004. Her doctoral thesis, titled "Fossil Penguins (Aves, Sphenisciformes) from Patagonia: Systematics, Biogeography, and Evolution," received the highest qualification. Since then, she was dedicated to the study of fossil birds from South America and Antarctica. Currently, Carolina is a Professor of Paleontology at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata and a scientific researcher from CONICET.

Washington JONES obtained a Mg in Paleontology in 2005 and a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences, both from the Universidad Nacional de La República (Uruguay), in 2010. His doctoral thesis, titled "New contributions to the paleobiology of Phorusrhacids (Aves: Phorusrhacidae) based on the analysis of biological structures," received the highest qualification. Since then, he was dedicated to the study of fossil and extant birds from South America. Currently, Washington works in the Museo Nacional de Historia Natural (Uruguay) and is a scientific researcher of PEDECIBA..
