Russell Engelman is a PhD student in the Department of Biology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Although much of his prior work has focused on Southern Hemisphere mammals (marsupials, South American ungulates, and rodents) and size estimation/allometry, as a lifelong resident of Cleveland he has been interested in the Devonian fish fossils preserved around his hometown for as long as he can remember. His research interests in Paleozoic vertebrates include the functional morphology and paleobiology of Devonian arthrodires and the ecosystem of the Cleveland Shale.
