Cécile-Mourer-Chauviré is an avian palaeontologist, who studied Pleistocene and insular avifaunas, some of them recently extinct, from many different localities, as well as other Cenozoic fossils. From 1985 until her retirement in 2005 she was appointed director of research in CNRS at Claude Bernard University Lyon 1.

Estelle Bourdon has worked on a broad range of topics in avian evolution and paleontology, with a focus on Paleogene fossils and the evolution of brain morphology in birds. Further research involved the morphology and osteohistology of palaeognathous birds. Currently, she works research associate at the Laboratoire Informatique et Systématique of Sorbonne University in Paris.
