R.V. Pêgas is a vertebrate paleontologist specializing in pterosaurs, with research spanning their diversity, phylogeny, and functional morphology. She has helped describe several new species, including Kunpengopterus antipollicatus — the first known pterosaur with an opposed thumb. Her work also includes a particular study on pterosaur bite forces and feeding habits. Currently, she is investigating wing biomechanics and describing new pterosaur fossils from across the globe. As a non-binary scientist, she is committed to advocating for the queer community and promoting its representation in science.
