FIGURE 1. Number of Araripe macroinvertebrate fossil holotypes described per year. Notable peaks occurred in 1990 (72 species) and 2007 (37 species). No species were described between 1955 and 1964, 1966 and 1986, or in the years 1965 and 1993. The lower section of the graph presents the distribution of holotypes by location, indicating specimens deposited outside Brazil (orange), in institutions within the Araripe region (yellow), in other locations in Brazil (magenta), or in cases where the collection location is unknown (dark magenta). The blank space of 1955 in the lower graph refers to the absence of type material for Protoligoneura limai Demoulin, 1955. See text for search query details.

FIGURE 2. Paths of distribution for the holotypes of the macroinvertebrates of the Araripe Group. A: Number of holotypes per country. B: Foreign collections with the highest number of holotypes (more than 4). C: Brazilian collections with the highest number of holotypes (more than 10). See: Material and Method for the meaning of the above-named abbreviations.

FIGURE 3. Main macroinvertebrate groups represented in Araripe fossils, with the number of holotypes per country. Taxa with more than 6 described species, and holotypes in more than 1 country were selected. For other groups, see Appendix 2. The numerical values displayed on the right-hand side represent the total number of described fossil species per group.
