Mathew Stewart is a Post-Doctoral Researcher in the Extreme Events Research Group based at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Jena, Germany. His research focuses on using a variety of approaches from taphonomy, zooarchaeology, and biogeochemistry (e.g., stable isotope analysis, Zooarchaeology by Mass Spectrometry) to study the fossil record. Mathew has conducted research in Africa, Arabia, China, and Island Southeast Asia and is particularly interested in how the fossil record can inform us on human (and hominin) history and prehistory.
