trumperSteffen Trümper, born in central Germany in 1991, studied geology and palaeontology at the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg. Fascinated by fossils from the very beginning, he focuses on deciphering the manifold ways of fossilisation and what fossils tell about deep-time ecosystems. Special emphasis is on late Paleozoic continental strata. For this purpose, Steffen likes working at interdisciplinary crossroads, including 3D analyses of sedimentary architectures, various dating approaches, anatomical studies of fossils and mineralogical methods. Previous studies reached from the Americas and Europe to China and examined various biotas from serveral depositional settings. After completing his Master's degree in 2017, Steffen completed a traineeship at the Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz, where he developed his passion for communicating science, e.g. by participating in science slams and by organising citizen-science excavations. The Ph.D. thesis was published in 2022, followed by a one year stay as a postdoctoral researcher at the South Tyrol Museum of Nature in Bolzano (Italy). In 2023, Steffen moved to western Germany, where he is currently employed as a curator, lecturer and researcher at the University of Münster.
